ACDelco SYNCHROMESH MANUAL TRANSMISSION FLUID

Snyromesh Manual Transmission Fluid | ACDelco

ACDelco Synchromesh Transmission Fluid is a synthetic-blend manual transmission fluid designed specifically for use in GM New Venture NV3500 manual transmissions. This fluid has excellent lubrication properties that prevent breakdown over time.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Formulated specifically for synchromesh transmissions, resulting in excellent synchronizer performance.
  • Minimizes sludge and varnish deposits to provide for a cleaner transmission.
  • Protects against surface distress, minimizing spalling, pitting, rust, corrosion and overall wear.
  • All-climate fluid that manages temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 degrees Celsius) to as high as 300 degrees Fahrenheit (149 degrees Celsius).
  • 32 oz. Part No. 10-4014 88900399

Signs of Wear & Troubleshooting:

  • The main maintenance issue in manual transmissions is fluid contamination.
  • It can occur over time, causing the synchronizers, bearings and gears to wear out.
  • The presence of microscopic metal particles in the fluid can severely reduce its lubricating properties.
  • Coolant contamination is particularly harmful and usually requires a complete overhaul or even replacement of the transmission.
  • Signs that transmission fluid should be replaced include transmission grinding or making strange noises, problems shifting gears, gears slipping, vehicle “surging” (lurching forward or falling back) and/or delays in vehicle movement.

Good Maintenance Practices:

  • Use the type of fluid recommended in your vehicle's service or Owner's Manual.
  • Transmission fluid should be replaced when it becomes contaminated.
  • Anything but transmission fluid in the transmission is considered a contaminant.
  • Typical fluid change intervals for older cars with manual transmissions range from 30,000 to 60,000 miles.
  • Under heavy duty use, some transmissions may need their fluid changed at intervals as low as 15,000 miles.
  • New vehicles have longer change schedules; check your Owner's Manual.
  • In addition to fluid replacement, it is important to regularly check your transmission fluid level.
  • A low transmission fluid level can cause the vehicle to shift improperly or not at all.
  • Stay vigilant – warning signs of low transmission fluid may not appear until serious damage has occurred.

FAQs:

Can I determine whether my vehicle needs Synchromesh Transmission Fluid or Synchromesh Transmission Fluid, Friction Modified, as opposed to a traditional manual transmission fluid?

  • Yes, there are many different types of transmission fluid. When the transmission was designed, it was designed with a specific fluid. It is for this reason that ACDelco only recommends using the fluid identified in your Owner's Manual. In some cases newer or more advanced fluids are not the right product for your vehicle.

Can I identify when my transmission fluid should be replaced?

  • Yes, refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual for change frequency and replacement fluid type. Also, look for signs of trouble or poor performance that may mean that the fluid needs changing.

Is there an average interval between transmission fluid changes?

  • No, the fluid change interval is highly dependent on your driving patterns. Refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual.

Does my transmission fluid need to be changed as regularly as my oil?

  • No, transmission fluid is designed to last much longer than your motor oil. Refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual.

Are there common causes of transmission fluid contamination?

  • Yes, most contaminants come from inside the transmission, metal particles and degraded (aged) fluid will most commonly be seen. In extreme cases engine coolant may be present and, if so, the transmission fluid must be changed immediately.

Are there preventative steps I can take to minimize contamination?

  • Yes. Monitor the appearance of the fluid every six months and know when your next fluid change becomes due. Changing the fluid at the mileage that meets your driving cycle is the best way to minimize contamination.
