Signs of Wear & Troubleshooting:

An unpleasant smell originating from your air conditioning system could be a sign of bacteria, mold or mildew growth on the cooling coils. To prevent or alleviate the smell, use ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating as directed.

Good Maintenance Practices:

  • Re-coat your cooling coils as often as directed to protect and prevent unwanted air conditioning system related smells.
  • Ensure that the air conditioning system’s evaporator is dry prior to cooling coil coating application. ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating will not adhere properly to wet surfaces.
  • Allow ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating to dry for a set period of time, followed by a set time exposed to heat. This will properly cure and seal the coating to the air conditioning system. For more specific information, see the installation instructions. Always follow the installation instructions prior to application to ensure that ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating is properly applied to achieve maximum performance levels.

FAQs:

Does ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating have a shelf life?

  • Yes, the 4 oz. bottle has a shelf life of 5 years.

Does ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating contain any perfumes or fragrances?

  • No, ammonia is incorporated into the product for emulsification purposes. When ACDelco Air Conditioning Cooling Coil Coating is being installed, you may smell the ammonia. However, once the coating has properly dried and cured, it gives off no odor or fragrance.

Will ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating cure properly in unheated air?

  • Yes, though the water and ammonia used in ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating evaporates faster when heat is used in the drying process. However, even without heat, the product will dry and cure. In ambient temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit/20 degrees Celsius and low humidity (less than 50 percent) the product can be cured in an airstream in approximately three hours.

Is it necessary to clean the evaporator before applying ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating?

  • Yes, it is recommended to use the product on as clean a surface as possible. However, advance cleaning is only necessary if there is substantial contamination visible on the evaporator surface.

Will ACDelco Cooling Coil Coating still be effective if the evaporator is not dry?

  • No, you MUST dry the evaporator at least 20-30 minutes before you apply Cooling Coil Coating. Similar to paint, the coating cannot adhere to wet surfaces. It must be applied only to dry surfaces.

Is the aerosol-can system as effective as the more expensive liquid supplied with the kit?

  • The liquid system, when applied correctly using the applicator kit, has been found to be much more effective in eliminating A/C system odors when compared with the aerosol-can method.
