ACDelco-Sponsored Car Show Takes Attendees on a Trip Down Memory Lane
Passing through the entrance of Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Mich., is like taking a step back in time. The outdoor museum, conceived by auto pioneer Henry Ford, features more than 80 historic structures from different parts of the country that provide life-size snapshots of how early Americans lived and worked.
On June 16 and 17, 2007, Greenfield Village’s Motor Muster car show — sponsored by ACDelco for the past three years — also gave visitors a look at the vehicles Americans used to drive, with more than 900 cars, bicycles, motorcycles, trucks and other vehicles from the 1930s to the 1970s on display.
ACDelco blended the old with the new at the event by parking a 2008 Cadillac CTS and a 2008 Corvette convertible next to its booth, which showcased ACDelco products and housed an interactive racing simulator. A graphic panel truck parked at the museum entrance and welcome bags given to each of the more than 750 show participants also helped generate brand awareness.
About 20,000 people attended the car show — a 33 percent increase over last year’s turnout. The jump can be attributed, in part, to metro Detroit-area repair shops promoting the event with countertop displays and distributing $5 off admission coupons. Bill Brown, founder of Bill Brown Auto Clinic in Canton, Mich., was on hand to offer attendees and visitors restoration tips as well as information on ACDelco parts available for their vehicles.
