ACDelco Spark Plugs

Product Background

In 1927, ACDelco blazed the trail in automotive spark plug engineering with its innovative one-piece patented design. Since then, ACDelco has made countless design improvements, each of which has positioned the ACDelco label as the leader in its industry.

More recently, ACDelco took spark plug design one step further with the debut of a super-ceramic insulator. Its ceramic, near-diamond hardness provides added strength, corrosion protection, shock resistance, and exceptional insulation and thermal qualities.

Extended-life spark plugs have a nickel-plated shell to improve resistance to corrosion for the life of the vehicle. And in 1996, a new high-efficiency spark plug triggered a more efficient transfer of electrical energy to thermal energy.

With nearly 80 years of spark plug innovations, ACDelco is clearly equipped to meet the challenges of present and future product improvement.

World-Class Quality
The ACDelco Advantage

Today's high-energy ignition systems promote increased erosion of the spark plug gap during normal engine operation. ACDelco's superior high-density electrode materials provide exceptional protection against spark plug gap wear and erosion, to prolong spark plug life.

ACDelco Spark Plugs are available in various heat ranges to satisfy specific application needs. The heat range of the spark plug is mostly determined by the length of the insulator tip, its configuration and the conductivity of the center electrode.

Research and Development

ACDelco Spark Plugs are formed by joining two subassemblies. The gas-tight insulator assembly is precision-made. The center electrode is inserted into the insulator, followed by an iron-glass compound which is tamped into place and heated in a furnace. The terminal post is pressed into the molten glass seal and all three components are locked securely together. The shell assembly is fabricated by welding a nickel-chrome electrode to an extruded steel-shell body and the threads are rolled, not cut. The two subassemblies are thermally united under pressure to form a leak-proof final assembly.

All-Makes Coverage

ACDelco offers an extensive line of replacement spark plugs for most passenger cars, trucks, commercial, marine and sport vehicles, as well as small engines.
