Can I use any type of charger to charge my AGM battery?

No, AGM batteries must be charged with a charger having an AGM setting or be identified as AGM capable powersport charger.

Can I use tap water to fill my battery flooded battery?

No, only distilled water should be used. Some tap water contains a significant amount of dissolved solids that would impair battery performance.

Does the purchased battery include a Premeasured Acid Bottle?

ACDelco AGM PowerSports Batteries come with an acid container that fits to the top of the battery and adds the exact amount of required acid to each battery cell. ACDelco Conventional Batteries come with an acid bottle that is used to fill all cells and should have the amount of acid to completely fill all cells. No other fluids, acid or water, are needed.

Do I have to add acid or water to this battery?

No, however, after some usage, ACDelco PowerSports Conventional Batteries may require the addition of some distilled water to bring the fluid level back to the area between the high and low level acid limits.

Should I charge my snowmobile, ATV, or motorcycle battery when I put it in winter storage?

To maximize battery life, before the off-season a battery should be brought up to a full charge and stored in a cool place. A fully charged battery has a better chance of lasting during the off-season and being ready for use. Inspect the battery every 2 months and recharge if needed.

• New batteries should be given a full charge before use

• For best battery life, batteries should not be discharged below 80% of their rated capacity. Proper battery sizing will avoid excessive battery discharge.

• Inactivity can be extremely harmful to all lead acid batteries. ACDelco recommends the following for seasonal use:

• Completely charge the battery before storing.
• Remove all electrical connections, including series/parallel connectors.
• Store in a cool (not below freezing) place.
• When not in use, boost every two months.

• Check the battery as part of regular vehicle maintenance.

• Keep battery terminals clean and free of corrosion.

• To remove corrosion from terminals use a terminal brush.

• Check the alternator and make sure that it is not charging too high or low. If the alternator is not charging properly it will cause the battery to not charge correctly and cause deterioration.

• Avoid exposing the battery to extreme heat whenever possible.

• Turn off other electrical accessories (stereos, internal lights, etc.) as soon as they are no longer required to save electrical energy.

• A battery not in use tends to run down and create sulfate deposits. After your battery has been filled and charged, it is essential that you keep it adequately charged either by running the vehicle, or by using an independent battery charger. If charging is required use a 0.5~1.5 amp slow charger overnight to return the battery to full charge.

• Do not leave battery on a continuous charge cycle.

• Check the electrolyte level once each month.

• Add only distilled water (not acid) and fill to upper level. DO NOT allow electrolyte to fall below lower level. NOTE: Charging is recommended anytime water is added to the battery.
